Fatherly Matters

Fathers across the United States are currently facing disparities within our court systems, where there is an evident bias that tends to separate families and disproportionately favor single mothers, ultimately leading many men to believe they are perceived as mere financial assets by the government. Prompt action is necessary to rectify this situation. It is an unfortunate reality that men are granted fewer rights in the context of child custody. A system that permits forced child support to be misused on non-essential items such as pedicures and fast food, rather than on essential necessities like diapers and groceries, while simultaneously limiting fathers' access to their children, contributes to an undesirable outcome—resulting in a society where many men feel disengaged from their children's lives. Statistics demonstrate an alarming increase in single parenthood under these circumstances. We need to acknowledge that this phenomenon of disengaged fathers can be attributed to long-standing inequalities embedded within our court system. We aim to change this.
